Safe in Chicago

“Safe in Chicago” is a 45 minute video-based intervention that includes the showing of a video (“Safe in the City”) and a group discussion focusing on condom negotiation and condom skills training.  Safe in Chicago incorporates and modifies two CDC DEBIs (“Voices/Voces” and “Safe in the City”).

Sisters Reaching Out

Sisters Reaching Out (SRO) is a gender-specific evidence-based intervention for formerly incarcerated women intended to train participants to become Health Promoters in their community.  SRO incorporates two interventions recognized by the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  First, Self-help in Eliminating Life-threatening Diseases (SHIELD) is group-level “Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions” (DEBI) that relies on peer networks to reduce drug and sex risk behaviors.  Sisters Informing Sisters on Topics about AIDS (SISTA) is a group-level, gender- and culturally-relevant, DEBI designed to increase condom use with African American women.
